Carla Bamatraf’s 15+ years of TESOL experience has focused on adults and secondary students in the US and abroad. She joined AEI after teaching at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan, for 5 years. Previously, she taught academic and tertiary-level Intensive English Program (IEP) courses at Georgia State University, at a language institute in the Middle East, and at another language school in the Atlanta area. Additionally, she has taught English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses to corporate and government employees in both China and the Middle East. Her teaching career began as a JET Programme participant, in which she taught communication classes at an academic high school in central Japan for 3 years.
Carla earned a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics-ESL from Georgia State University as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University. Before returning to teaching ESL full-time, Carla also worked in the transportation planning field for over 15 years and holds the AICP certification.
